Deep Emotional Release Bodywork is a system that frees people from negative experiences and emotions that adversely affect their present behavior. These experiences are stored in the body’s cellular memory and emotional map. Deep Emotional Release Bodywork accesses these recorded experiences and attitudes through a unique pattern of questioning and hands-on techniques. Once traumas, fears, negative thoughts and behavior patterns have been identified, the practitioner facilitates their release from specific areas in the body. Some of the many benefits of this transformational work are greater personal insights, renewed creative energy and increased self-esteem and self-confidence.
Deep Tissue Bodywork refers to a variety of hands-on techniques that focus on restoring the body’s myofascia (connective tissue enveloping the muscles) to its natural, resilient state, allowing freer and easier movement. Tension, compression or an imbalanced distribution of stress tightens this tissue, resulting in “knots”, soreness, depletion of energy and restricted movement. Appropriate pressure and manipulation enables the fascia, and hence the entire body, to regain its innate flexibility and proper functioning.
EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a method of therapy that uses carefully guided repetitive eye movements, similar to those of REM or dream sleep, to help access and process information stored in the mind and body. When limiting beliefs, debilitating emotions, images and body sensations related to upsetting past and present life conditions are released, there is more ease, and ability to access one’s inner wisdom and resources. Creativity and performance are enhanced, and often people open to a spiritual dimension of their lives.
Ear Candling – Ear Coning is an ancient technique that can alleviate allergies, sinus conditions, hearing loss, ear aches, tinnitus and balance problems. A hollow cloth candle is lit and gently inserted into the ear. This creates a gentle vacuum that removes excess ear wax, fungus, Candida and bacteria from the ear canal and sinuses, leaving one feeling relaxed, clear and with a remarkable sense of well being.
Energy Balancing is the art and practice of aligning and re-attuning the body between the physical and the etheric and auric fields, permitting heightened sensitivity and creative well-being. Working with the chakras (energy centers) and different energy polarities, the practitioner helps one to re-balance the electromagnetic healing energy system. Different forms of psychological and/or spiritual self-healing techniques may be employed, with the person being taught ways of utilizing his own power for healing and keeping themselves in harmony.
Feldenkrais Method is a series of visualization and movement sequences designed to shift and replace habitual movement patterns, allowing the emergence of new and more useful ways of moving, and positive self perceptions. The Method is widely recognized for its effectiveness in dealing with a broad range of muscular, neurological and orthopedic problems, improving dynamic posture, flexibility, coordination, reducing chronic pain, and renewing inner vitality. It is taught in two ways for all age groups. Functional Integration uses individual, hands-on or touch sessions and the Awareness Through Movement is taught in a group or class setting.
Feng Shui is the Chinese study of the dynamic relationship between humans and the surrounding environment. Knowing that natural elements and electromagnetic energy currents affect the quality of people’s lives, they learned how to live in harmony with these forces in order to attract the maximum possible health, wealth and harmonious relationships into their lives. This practice is known as geomancy, the art of placement, or Feng Shui, pronounced “fung shway.” Literally meaning wind and water, Feng Shui is now over 4,000 years old, and is still used to locate the perfect site for a new building, to make simple interior adjustments and major architectural designs for homes and offices. An environment with improved Feng Shui can help increase productivity and income, improve sleep, create more harmony in relationships, resolve conflicts and help one feel more energized in life.
Flower Essences work from the premise that diseases of the body are symptoms of disturbances of the mind, the heart and the spirit. Leaf, twig or flower-essence remedies directly correlate to specific moods or mental attitudes, and serve as catalysts for the subtler levels of the healing process. Edward Bach, pioneer of flower remedies, found that patients with similar personality traits responded to the same remedy, although their outward manifestations of illness differed. Capturing the essence of a fresh flower may involve gathering the plant at sunrise and placing it in a bowl of pure, undiluted water within direct sunlight for several hours.
Guided Imagery refers to using the power of the imagination to evoke positive mind/body responses. This is a therapeutic process that enhances the innate healing potential within each one of us. Guided by a practitioner or sometimes by listening to an audio tape, an individual follows specific suggestions or images directed towards a desired outcome. The healing powers of imagery can effect one physically, mentally and emotionally, and tap into a rich reservoir of inner resources. Guided imagery is being used in sports and business, as well as in many areas of health care to envision the wanted results.
Healing Touch is an energy-based therapeutic approach to healing. Its roots lie in the ancient laying-on-of-hands. Healing Touch practitioners develop skills in sensing human energy and learn how to bring harmony and balance to the client. Human beings are energy. Often that energy is out of balance due to lifestyles, life experiences and disease. All healing is self-healing. Practitioners are facilitators in the process of self- healing. Significant improvement takes place on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.
Hellerwork, developed by Joseph Heller, is a three-pronged method using deep connective tissue massage, movement education and dialogue to get people to look at the connection between what’s going on in their life and what’s going on in their body.
Herbology is an ancient way of healing found in cultures throughout the world utilizing plants and their derivatives as preventative and curative medicine. It is believed that medicinal and nutritional supplements synthesized from separate and isolated elements create a physical dependency in the body by reducing its ability to extract these elements from whole foods. Whole herbs, however, retain the subtler ingredients necessary to balance the active elements, thus transporting a balanced substance into the body that can catalyze healing more effectively. In this way, herbal therapy strengthens the natural functions of the body without the negative side effects of synthetic drugs. Herbs are prepared for internal and external use in a variety of ways, including teas, tinctures, extracts, oils, ointments and compresses.
Holistic Health – Holistic Medicine is the art and science of healing that addresses the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. The practice of holistic medicine integrates conventional and alternative therapies to prevent and treat disease, and most importantly, to promote optimal health. This condition of holistic health is defined as the unlimited and unimpeded free flow of life force energy through body, mind, and spirit. Holistic medicine encompasses all safe and appropriate modalities of diagnosis and treatment. It includes analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, spiritual and lifestyle elements. Holistic medicine focuses upon patient education and participation in the healing process. Holistic physicians encourage patients to evoke the healing power of love, hope, humor and enthusiasm, and to release the toxic consequences of hostility, shame, greed, depression, and prolonged fear, anger, and grief. Holistic physicians expend as much effort in establishing what kind of patient has a disease as they do in establishing what kind of disease a patient has. Prevention is preferable to treatment and is usually more cost-effective. The most cost-effective approach evokes the patient’s own innate healing capabilities. Unconditional love is life’s most powerful medicine. Physicians strive to adopt an attitude of unconditional love for patients, themselves, and other practitioners. Optimal health is much more than the absence of sickness. It is the conscious pursuit of the highest qualities of the physical, environmental, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of the human experience.
Holographic Repatterning identifies the core structure of any issue a person wants to resolve and through repatternings and self-healing modalities, removes the unconscious patterns and energy constrictions of the issue from their mind, body and emotions. Each part of the process is directed by the person’s Higher Consciousness through muscle checking. This powerful, accurate process results in a greater sense of empowerment and self-esteem, and improved relationships and performance in every aspect of life.
Holotropic Breathwork, co-originated by Stanislav Grof, M.D., is a powerful method of self-exploration, personal transformation, and healing. It is based on and combines insights from modern consciousness research, depth psychology, and various spiritual practices. Through breathing, evocative music, and focused release work, non-ordinary states of consciousness are induced. These states allow mobilization of the spontaneous healing potential of the psyche. Mandala drawing and group processing of the experiences are additional important elements used in the holotropic process. The name “holotropic” (from the Greek holos = whole, and trepein = to move in the direction of) means literally “moving toward wholeness.” Holotropic Breathwork mediates access to all levels of the human psyche including unfinished issues from postnatal biography, sequences of psychological death and rebirth, and the entire spectrum of transpersonal experiences.
Homeopathy is a holistic medical science developed over 200 years ago by a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann. Based on the principle thay “like cures like,” homeopathy employs the use of minute doses of natural remedies that are created from herbal, mineral and animal substances. It was Hahnemann’s belief that symptoms of illness should not be suppressed, since they represent the body’s efforts to repel disease. Just as psychologists have learned that the suppression of emotion leads to illness and the expression of emotion leads to cure, so too homeopathic practitioners have learned that the suppression of symptoms leads to illness, while the rapid and gentle expression of symptoms leads to cure. Homeopathy has special licensing laws in some states in the U.S. and is widely practiced throughout Europe.
Hydrotherapy is a therapy that uses water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersions, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can be used in the home as a part of a self-care program.
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis as a psychotherapeutic tool. The altered state that occurs under hypnosis has been compared to a state of deep meditation or transcendence, in which innate recuperative abilities of the psyche are allowed to flow more freely. The subject can achieve greater clarity regarding personal wants and needs, explore other events or periods of life requiring resolution, or generally developing a more positive attitude. Hypnotherapy had also been particularly effective with stress disorders and various addictions.
Inner Child Therapy involves the gentle process of memory regression to gain conscious contact with the “inner child”, those early memories and recorded feelings of childhood. Past negative experiences are surfaced, allowing the suppressed emotions to be released. The accompanying belief systems are uncovered and explored, and either accepted or changed to a more positive truth. This process frees the individual from their limiting beliefs and also from the process of creating negative experiences to release the suppressed emotions. Issues including abandonment, rejection, rage, validation and grief are the direct result of erroneous belief systems taken on in childhood and recreated in situations in adulthood on a continual basis if not uncovered and transformed. The ensuing result of Inner Child Therapy is greater empowerment with more joy and happiness.
Integrated Energy Therapy – (IET) is a hands-on energy therapy technique developed by Stevan J. Thayer. IET get the “issues out of your tissues” for good. It works directly with your DNA, gently releasing the limiting energy patterns from your past that prevent you from being balanced in the present and from realizing your full potential in the future. IET is fun and easy to learn and is taught in four training levels.
Iridology is the art and science of analyzing the delicate structure of the colored portions of the eye, the iris. The iris reveals the basic constitutional health level of an individual with detailed information pertaining to their physical strengths and weaknesses. The iris can communicate information on all specific organs of the body and the effects of crises or chronic health challenges to each organ, tissue inflammation levels and tissue integrity throughout the body. Iridology is a sister science to nutrition. Each cell, tissue or organ in the body has specific, identifiable nutritional needs. When the cell does not receive adequate nutritional values, the iris reflects these conditions. The conditions may be due to faulty diet, poor absorption and digestion, environmental pollution or high stress levels. Usually these depletions are noticeable in the iris long before they would be discernible through blood work or laboratory analysis, thus making iridology and nutritional support strong useful tools for preventative self-care.
