Homeopathy is a holistic medical science developed over 200 years ago by a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann. Based on the principle thay “like cures like,” homeopathy employs the use of minute doses of natural remedies that are created from herbal, mineral and animal substances. It was Hahnemann’s belief that symptoms of illness should not be suppressed, since they represent the body’s efforts to repel disease. Just as psychologists have learned that the suppression of emotion leads to illness and the expression of emotion leads to cure, so too homeopathic practitioners have learned that the suppression of symptoms leads to illness, while the rapid and gentle expression of symptoms leads to cure. Homeopathy has special licensing laws in some states in the U.S. and is widely practiced throughout Europe.
